SCHOOL INTENSITY

This school is of Medium-High Intensity which means that they teach material at a very efficient pace. In general, you can expect to study daily for about 2 hours outside of class, depending on your level. These are designed to help support students who plan to study at universities and vocational schools after they complete the language program.

Yokohama International Education Academy is located in the heart of the city's downtown area, just a 20-minute walk from the iconic Red Brick Warehouses, the contemporary Osanbashi ferry terminal, and the lovely waterfront.

Yokohama is the second largest city by population in Japan and is situated in the greater Tokyo metropolitan area. Due to it long being a popular international port city, Yokohama has a distinct Western flair that is absent from most other places in Japan. It also boasts Japan's largest Chinatown, located 20 minutes away by train from the Academy.

COURSE INTRODUCTION

This is the Academy's main language course. Divided into 11 levels, students build strong foundations in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and develop natural conversation abilities.

The course offers complimentary kanji classes at the elementary level, while advanced level students enjoy elective classes to help them deepen their language skills.

Beginner - 6 Months

In order to build a strong language base, beginner students focus on basic grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and everyday conversation skills. Complimentary kanji lessons are available to ensure students develop well-rounded skills in all areas of the language.

Jlpt prep elective classes

The Academy’s JLPT prep classes help students prepare for JLPT N2 and N1 by focusing on the techniques you need to pass the exams.

Higher education prep

The Academy’s university prep classes will help students prepare to take classes at universities in Japan.

Business Japanese classes

The Academy’s business class is for advanced students only and focuses on teaching business protocols and language for a work environment.

Japanese Culture Class

For advanced students only. The Academy’s culture class explores both traditional and modern Japanese culture.

Manga class

Collaborative course with a manga school in Tokyo is available.

Graduate School Preparatory Class
COURSE INTRODUCTION

In order to join this class, students must:
1. Have a Bachelor's Degree and be eligible for graduate studies
2. Have a clearly defined field of study
3. Have passed JLPT N2 or above

The Academy supports students in their journey through Japan's graduate school entrance system and provides continued language classes and preparation classes for JLPT N1.
